The National Gaming Control Board (NGCB) refutes claims on social media that NGCB is looking to shut down Pacific Racing Betting Shops nationwide. NGCB believes that certain individuals with malicious and ill intent to tarnish the reputation of NGCB have put up the social media post.

NGCB further advises that all Pacific Racing Betting Shop licenses are current and are in operation.

CEO of NGCB Ms Imelda Agon said, “Spreading rumors and fake news on social media with the intent to incite anger, frustration and tarnish the good image of a state-owned organisation is ridiculous, outrageous and unreasonable.”

“The NGCB is committed in ensuring that the operations of the gaming industry remains uninterrupted especially during this time when the industry is recovering from the closure of gaming operations due to the COVID-19 pandemic.”

“I strongly urge Papua New Guineans and especially social media users to be wary of fake news and scammers that are encroaching our societies with unfounded reports and publications.”

“I also strongly urge all punters to gamble responsibly and must know their limits,” said Agon.
