The Bintangor Goroka Lahanis have moved up to 7th placing on the Digicel Cup ladder this week after skipper Charlie Buka placed a final try in the dying minutes of the game bringing the scores 18-all at the 79th minute in the round 14 game against the Gulf Isous in Port Moresby.

Unfortunately, an unsuccessful conversion by Buka meant the Lahanis missed out on securing a first win for an away game in Port Moresby and in turn, also missed out on making the top 6 this week.

With the competition gearing into its’ final stages, the Lahanis are hopeful for a spot in the Top 6 at the end of the round games with hopes still lingering for the finals play-offs in September.

Lahanis Coach Gonzela Urakusie is keeping a positive mindset and faith in his boys to keep pushing towards the finals and to never give up until they have reached the end of the journey.

The two teams had a tussle for the winning spot with both teams locking in an 8-all score at half time with Isous scoring a further two tries and one successful conversion however the Lahanis did not go down without a fight, also scoring similar in the second half of the game and settling with a draw at full time.

This week the Lahanis take on the Central Dabaris at the Santos National Football Stadium in Port Moresby and with every team out to secure a top 6 standing in the remaining round games, the competition is indeed gaining momentum as teams go head to head for a spot in the finals playoffs.

The Lahanis are looking at securing a win this time around in Port Moresby and will be out in full force to take on the Central Dabaris who are currently sitting on 6th placing on the ladder.
